Adopt Me!

The Aspen Animal Shelter is proud to be a privatized, no-kill shelter. The shelter provides a sanctuary for the homeless dogs and cats of Aspen and Pitkin County, the occasional bird or rabbit as well. Every pet is neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Below you'll find our current four-legged pets looking for homes. Remember, in addition to adopting these wonderful companions, you can always swing by and take a dog for a walk. It's a great way to enjoy the company of a dog and give him some exercise and socialization. You can also hang out in the cat room and play with the kitties. Jenny
Jenny is a 6-year-old white Standard Poodle female. She came to us all the way from Nebraska and was about to be euthanized in a shelter there due to overcrowding. She is such a sweet dog and is very smart and loving. Jenny craves human attention—she can’t wait to give you her paw. She has such a great even personality that she is probably good with other dogs, too. Since she just arrived, we have not had a chance to test that out but we imagine she will be fine.

Duke
Duke is a 1.5-year-old purebred Chocolate Lab male. He is large and gorgeous. He is friendly and sweet with kids and other dogs—not a mean bone in his body. He loves toys and tug-of-war which he can play for hours. His only fault is that he will need some expensive eye surgery for cataracts in the near future which is why he was turned in. His restricted sight is causing him some problems with depth and detail perception. Our understanding is that these problems can be completely resolved through surgery—we are presently gathering more information. This is a terrific dog who deserves a chance to be with another loving family.

Manny
Manny is a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix male. He lived with a family with kids. He is only slightly shy at first but then incredibly friendly and outgoing. Manny is really sweet with a big personality. He is good with other dogs although sometimes his muscular strength and exuberance can be a little intimidating to other dogs. He is ready for his new family.

Almond
Almond is a 7-year-old male. He had an owner who abandoned him. He was left outside to fend for himself. A neighbor finally caught hold of him and turned him in. Because of this he was starting to pick up some feral tendencies. If you are slow with him he will relax and let you pet him. One of our volunteers had no trouble getting him to rub his head all over her after talking to him for a second. He is completely stressed out though from the abandonment. He is underweight from living outside and not being fed. Almond is a very friendly cat. He needs a loving home where he can gain weight and blossom.

Snowflake and Snowball
We are Siamese, if you please, meow!” Recently turned in, Snowflake, pictured on the left, and her brother Snowball are full of personality and the sweetest of ways—a touch shy initially, but now coming around to everyone they encounter. Perhaps not the perfect Disney variety, but as cute a pair as you’ll ever see. Snowball was recently adopted. Female, 7 months.
